Appointments

Make an appointment by visiting our Consulting Room.

If you are booking an appointment via the Colchester Medical Practice Patient Online Access website please make sure that you book into the site where you are registered.

Blood Tests

If you are booking an appointment online for a Blood test, a Doctor or Nurse must have requested that you need to have a blood test taken. They will then arrange a blood test form for you and it will be here on the computer ready for when you come to the appointment. If you book an appointment and it has not been requested by a Clinician and no form has been organised you will not be able to have the test done and you will be required to re-book at another time.

Routine Appointments

Routine appointments may be made one month in advance, which will enable us to offer you an appointment at a time more suitable to your requirements. If you cannot keep an appointment, please inform us as soon as possible as this will assist in over-subscribed situations.

Evening Surgeries

Appointments with GPs in evening surgery are pre-bookable. Surgeries normally run from 16:00 to 18:30 and consist of 10-minute appointments. If you have a particularly difficult problem, please make a double appointment. If you are late for your appointment, the GP may not be able to see you as other patients will be waiting.

Extended Opening

All of our GPs and some of our nurses participate on a rota basis in offering additional pre-booked appointments outside of normal surgery hours, i.e. from 18:30 to 19:10. This is usually on a Monday evening and alternative Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Sometimes this does vary due to Bank Holidays or other commitments. During this time, access to the surgery is via an intercom system for those patients with appointments. The surgery is not open for other purposes at that time.

Emergencies

If you are confronted by a serious problem such as severe chest pain or profuse bleeding call an ambulance (Call 999) before calling the surgery.

Open Access Surgeries

Our GPs’ morning surgeries are open access and start at 08:30. These are not pre-bookable. Anyone who turns up before 10:00 will be seen, but remember: these surgeries are very popular and sometimes there can be a wait. It does, however, mean that you can get to see a GP at short notice.

Online Patient Access

The Practice is pleased to provide patients with access to its Clinical System via a Secure Web Interface.

You can cancel your appointments, request repeat medication and view your medical records online. To do this you need to register with the practice and obtain a password to enable you to access this service.
